COSATU-Nkomazi Local message of condolence on the passing on of Cde Mandla Ngomane

17 December 2013

The Congress of South African Trade Unions in Nkomazi has received with sadness the news on the passing on of Cde Mandla Ngomane yesterday 16 December 2013 in the early hours of the morning. Cde Mandla was a secretary of SATAWU Juda Tsotetsi Local (Nkomazi) and a prominent member of COSATU Nkomazi Local member of Local Executive Committee (LEC) and ex officio member of SATAWU Mpumalanga Provincial Executive Committee. He departs from us after battling with short illness. On behalf of all affiliates organising under the banner of COSATU in Nkomazi, we lower our revolutionary working class banners and register our deepest heartfelt sympathies to the family, relatives, and all that cde Mandla touched.

The passing on of cde Mandla coincides with the 52 Anniversary of the revolutionary Arm wing of the ANC, Mkhonto we Sizwe. He left us while we were still mourning the departure of the founding Commander of MK cde Nelson Rolihlanhla Mandela and a talented athlete Baby Jake Matlala, may their souls rest in peace. Cde Mandla showed passion leading struggles of workers, not only in his sector but across the spectrum of society. We will surely miss his passion for singing revolutionary song and his organizational skills of mobilising society for socialism. Cde Mandla was a committed soldier who would be the first in the battlefield and the last to leave combat. He passed on with his boots on as a Secretary of SATAWU. Cde Mandla cannot die while we are still alive. We shall continue and fly the red working class flag in his honour.

SATAWU has arranged a memorial service in the following manner:

Date : 19 December 2013 (Thursday)
Venue : Kamhlushwa Community Hall (Mpumalanga)
Time : 11h00

Issued on behalf of Nkomazi COSATU-Local:
Kabelo Ben Monepya
Secretary
