COSATU Mpumalanga pays tribute to Nelson Mandela

09 December 2013

The Congress of South African Trade Unions in Mpumalanga joins the millions in the entire universe in paying our last tribute to the departed stalwart of the revolution, Tata Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. We express our deepest sympathy and share our grief with his family, friends, comrades, the entire nation and the world.

Tata Nelson Mandela was not only a political leader but also a loving father, a pillar of his family, a role model, an inspiration, a living symbol of unity amongst the nation groups, he was a global icon, a son of the soil, a freedom fighter, a commander in chief of Umkhonto Wesizwe, a servant of the people who spent his entire life fighting for the well being of his people and that of the world.

Tata Nelson Mandela was a symbol of peace and reconciliation, even after spending more than two decades of his life in the apartheid prison, he came out to work for peace, reconciliation, nation building and strived for a rainbow nation.

As we celebrate his life , let us all renew our conviction and commitment to work for peace , justice, equality , human dignity , democracy and a better life for all the people. Let us fight against the demon of racism, tribalism . corruption and greediness . let us strive to end the violence against women and children. Let us fight to defeat the scourge of HIV/AIDS that has destroyed so many families and have claimed so many lives.

On behalf of the more than two hundred thousand members of COSATU in the province, we extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Madiba family, friends across the globe, the people of South Africa and all peace loving people around the globe.

As part of celebrating the life of Nelson Mandela, COSATU in the Province will convene memorial services across the province at workplaces, shops, mines, and industrial sites.

For more information please contact the COSATU Mpumalanga Provincial Secretary, Fidel Mlombo at 0827195699 or 0795110947.
