COSATU mourns passing of Thomas Madigage

19 October 2012

The Congress of South African Trade Unions is deeply saddened at the death of Thomas Madigage, Bafana Bafana’s assistant coach, in a car accident last night, after his car hit a donkey in Limpopo. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at their sudden, tragic loss.

Thomas Madigage had an illustrious career as both player and coach. He played for Jomo Cosmos, FC Zurich in Switzerland and SuperSport United where he went on to become their assistant coach from 2002 until this year. In that time the club won six titles, including three successive league titles between 2008 and 2010. He also played for Bafana Bafana between 1993 and 1997.

He will be much missed within the South African soccer community, and we hope that his example of service to the beautiful game will continue to inspire future generations of players to excel.
