COSATU NW and Gift of the Givers opens a food kitchen

20 September 2012

The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the North West, together with the Gift of Givers Foundation, will open a food kitchen in Verdwaal.

The kitchen was build after four children died of hunger when their mother left them alone to look for food from their grandmother.

COSATU together with the Gift of the Giver found it fit to intervene in order to alleviate poverty and sustainable livelihoods

The opening of the kitchen will be on the 21 September 2012 at Verdwaal from 12h00 t016h00.

We call on all our members in the area of Lichtenburg, Itsoseng and Mahikeng to join the official opening which is responding to the poverty crisis we are facing in the rural and farm areas.

As the federation in NW we real want to appreciate the work done by Gift of the Givers in our province. It has identified its program with the poor in this country and serves as many poor working class including workers who are retrenched unfairly by exploiters such as Aurora, Chubby Chick and recently they gave food to the workers who were on illegal strike for over six weeks.

We are asking some big business many of the people of the NW to contribute or to donate for the sustainable of Gift of the Givers to be able to perform its objectives of helping the poor.

Media is invited to the activity.

For more information feel free to call COSATU NW Provincial Secretary Solly Phetoe [0823044055]
