COSATU NW to hold its 3rd provincial congress

19 July 2012

The Congress of South African Trade unions in the North West will be holding its third provincial congress under the theme Advance working class power for socialism and mobilise against corruption and exploitation – role of the working class in the liberation struggle- strengthening COSATU for total emancipation.

The congress will be held from 20th to 22nd July 2012. On the first day will be at Trim park in Potchefstroom and from there it will continue at the Madiba banquet hall for the 2nd and the 3rd day.

On the first day the congress will be starting with the registration from 12h00 until 13h30 when the official opening will be taking place.

The congress will receive a messages of support from the alliance partners SANCO, ANC and SACP and from the traditional leaders of the province on the first day and will be addressed by the premier and the deputy minister of health on the first day late in the afternoon .

The President of COSATU, comrade Sidumo Dlamini, will deliver a keynote address also on the second day at 10h00 and the congress will receive a report on the state of the organisation, the political situation of the province and the socio economic conditions of our province.

The congress will be graced by the presence of the General Secretary of COSATU comrade Zwelinzima Vavi on the last day who will greet the congress just be the closing remarks from the newly elected chairperson.

It is expected that from the report the congress will craft resolutions which will take the federation forward for the coming three years in the province and strength our federation both at the level of the locals and the affiliates.

The media will be allowed to attend part of the opening and the closing session of the congress
