COSATU to report mismanagement of stadium to public protector

28 November 2011

COSATU has reported the miss management of the stadium to the Public protector due to the blatant unfair discrimination of the City towards users of City Services... The City of Cape Town can pay hundreds of Thousands of Randís to the Loerie awards for services, because it promotes the tourism Industry, but will not give similar concessions to the Rugby Authorities. This kind of Discrimination that makes it look like the City administrators is running the stadium at its whims, has seen us loose the SAFA fixtures.

COSATU demands a clear policy for the stadium that outlines the manner and cost in which the stadium is to be leased out to various users in a manner that discriminates. Itís this same kind of discrimination that saw the DA try to charge COSATU R1 million to use the stadium related services. This attitude is clearly costing the city money, as it is losing business and having to pay the upkeep cost.

COSATU demands an investigation into Grant Pascoe and his ability to oversee the stadium and manage it is a manner that serves all the people of Cape Town.

For questions please call COSATU W Cape provincial Secretary, Tony Ehrenreich, at 082 77 33 194
