COSATU Mpumalanga mourns the untimely passing on of Comrade Vincent Sibiya, Deputy General Secretary of SASFU

COSATU Mpumalanga mourns the untimely passing on of Comrade Vincent Sibiya, Deputy General Secretary of SASFU

1 December 2010

Death has again robbed the people of Mpumalanga of one of the finest leaders that our struggle and revolution has produced. Comrade Vincent Sibiya was a soldier of peace, a militant cadre of the movement, a committed revolutionary and a principled leader.

Those of us who have had the privilege to work with comrade Vincent, we will tell a story of a soft spoken shrewd communist, a fearless fighter, and true servant of the people.

Comrade Vincent is amongst the ANC cadres who joined the military wing Umkhonto WeSizwe at a very young age. He sacrificed his life, and left his parents and children to go to a foreign land to fight a war to liberate his people.

On his arrival back to his country, comrade Vincent continued to fight the war against poverty, unemployment inequalities and corruption.

In his undying spirit we commit as COSATU to continue the fight against corruption, we commit to continue being the moral voice of the down trodden and the poor, we commit to be fearless defender of the rights of the workers and the working class in general.

"I have lived with death for most of my life, I now want to live in a free South Africa even if I will have to lay down my life for it." Chris Sthembisile Hani.

Farewell dear Brother fare well dear Comrade, may your revolutionary soul rest in eternal peace.

We will never retreat, no surrender.
