Red Friday Programme for COSATU KZN

13 September 2018

The Provincial Office Bearers of COSATU will together with SACTWU Leadership lead a solidarity strike march at Camperdown to the National Chicks Company. The workers in this company that have been out on strike for more than a month now in fighting for wage increase and the 13th cheque benefit which the employer is stubbornly refusing to offer. Another disturbing factor that the Leadership will confront is the use of the SAPS to threaten and intimidate workers who are on strike. It is for this reason why there are three different memorandums that will be handed over to the following; EThekwini Municipality, SAPS and the Employer.

The details of the march are as follows:

Starting Point: Corner UMbumbulu & UMlaas Road and move to
First End Point: National Chicks Head Office (01 UMlaas Road, Daventon Estate) and proceed to
Second End Point: Camperdown Police Station and Municipality

COSATU KZN condemns the recent outbreak of abduction of women and children and human trafficking. Therefore as part of the Red Friday Campaign, the leadership of the COSATU in the province will also visit the Louw family of the victim of the recent outbreak of women and children abduction.
