NEHAWU General Secretary to address Palestine protest at DIRCO tomorrow in Pretoria

27 November 2017

The General Secretary of the National Education Health and Allied Workers' Union [NEHAWU], Comrade Zola Saphetha, will address the Palestine picket tomorrow outside South Africa's Department of International Relations and Cooperation [DIRCO].

The purpose of the picket is to protest against pro-Israel sell-outs within the Department of International Relations and Cooperation who are betraying our solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The picket is organised by the Gauteng structures of the YCLSA, COSATU, SASCO and others including NEHAWU which has members who work within DIRCO. NEHAWU members from DIRCO will also be attending the lunch-time picket both in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle but also to raise certain workers specific issues.

Other speakers to address the picket include YCLSA National Secretary Mluleki Dlelanga, ANC Provincial Officer for International Relations Nomantu Ralehoko, COSATU Provincial Secretary Dumisani Dakile and SASCO Provincial Secretary Luvuyo Barnes.

The picket will also be marking the 40th UN International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People which takes place annually on the 29th of November.
