COSATU KZN to Picket at SASSA Offices in Pietermaritzburg on Monday, 20th March 2017

COSATU in KwaZulu Natal will be picketing outside SASSA Offices in Pietermaritzburg on Monday. This is part of COSATU'S Human Rights Program, and we found it befitting to use our Human Right Day activity to defend and highlight the plight of the poor, whose lives are under threat by the SASSA saga.

The 17 million grants recipients deserve to be treated with respect and dignity and should not be subjected to such bureaucratic arrogance. We demand to see those responsible for the SASSA crisis brought to book.

We understand the court has issued its judgement on the issue of SASSA but COSATU still calls for action against the architects of this crisis. The picket is also aimed at giving support to NEHAWU members ,who are currently on strike at the Department of Social Development.
