Get Out The Vote campaign DVD launch today

The Peace & Democracy Project would like to invite you to the launch of our Get Out The Vote campaign DVD on Thursday 29 May, 2008, at the 1st Floor Boardroom of Cosatu House (Cnr Leyds & Biccard, Braamfontein, JHB) at 5:00pm.

The Peace and Democracy Project is a Zimbabwean youth initiative that was formed in January of 2003 to provide a platform for young Zimbabweans in South Africa to participate in activities related to Zimbabwe. As part of the initiative the Peace and democracy Project ran a Get Out The Vote campaign from the 6th of February to 7 April, 2008 as a means of encouraging Zimbabweans in South Africa to participate in the 2008 harmonised elections. Follow up to the GOTV the Peace and Democracy Project held a Flame Of Freedom Walk from Johannesburg to Musina as a protest to the late release of the March general elections that were held in Zimbabwe.

In view of the 27 June presidential runoff the PDP will be rolling out the GOTV program yet again starting on the 16th of June, 2008 in order to better the participation of the Zimbabweans in South Africa in the presidential run-off elections this time around particularly in the face of new challenges surrounding the Diaspora community.
