COSATU North West press statement
Provincial march on 17th May 2008 at Vryburg on electricity, food pricing and solidarity support to the poor workers and the rest of Zimbabwean communities.
The Congress of South African Trade unions, the South African Communist Party, civil society and the mass democratic movement in North West will be protesting with a march on 17th May 2008 from Huhudi Stadium to the city of Vryburg municipality from 10H00 to 15H00.
Our protest march will be led by Cosatu NOBs, senior leaders from churches, civil society against the high food pricing, high electricity against the dictatorship of Robert Mugabe who is continuing with his brutal assault of the poor people, communities and the poor working class in Zimbabwe.
Our memorandum will be received by the Minister of Public Enterprises and the Premier of North West. The issues affecting our poor communities, workers at the local level are included such as racism, brutal assault, abusing of power and service delivery in particular by municipalities in the province.
Cosatu calls the people of North West to support their action as part building to mass action in the next two or three weeks.
