Ncumisa Kondlo
The Congress of South African Trade Unions has learned with great sadness of the untimely passing away of Comrade Ncumisa Kondlo, after a brave battle against illness. We send our condolences to her family and to her many friends and comrades and dip our banners in honour of a great heroine of the liberation struggle.
She was the National Deputy Chairperson of the South African Communist Party, a member of the ANC's NEC and NWC, and Chairperson of the ANC Caucus in Parliament.
COSATU members will always remember a humble comrade from a rural background who began her political life as a student activist in AZASO and later SANSCO at Fort Hare University, and later in the Black Students Movement at Rhodes University in the 1980s, and rose through the ranks of the movement to become a dedicated and committed revolutionary leader at national level.
COSATU echoes the word of her comrades in the SACP: "We shall always be guided by her revolutionary example as we deepen the struggle for Socialism!" Hamba Kahle, Comrade! We will never forget you!
