Statement on COSATU march

SAMWU with its 1400 members will be participating to all marches in Port Elizabeth, East London, Queenstown and Umthatha. SAMWU will be supporting and fully behind the one day strike of COSATU which is taking place tomorrow 23 July, against

  • Skyrocket food,
  • Increase petrol,
  • Poverty,
  • Crime
  • Xenophobia.

As SAMWU, we are deeply affected like all other members of working class and the poor by this increase of electricity which was caused by the government. Workers cannot be called now to take the blow of the damage made the others and let them get away with murder and we also welcome the views of the ANC on this issue of electricity, but also we expect ANC to put pressure to the government as leading party to address this crisis rather than shifting the responsibility.
