Resolve these dismissal 31-01-08 |
COSATU AND SATAWU PRESS STATEMENT
Resolve these dismissal cases!
The Congress of South African Trade Unions and the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union in Limpopo are calling on the management of Great North Transport to resolve the dismissal cases of over 50 workers. The majority of these cases date back to 2001 which means that these workers have been subjected to unfair treatment by the company for more than 5 years. Many of these workers are breadwinners which simply means their families have been without income as a result of the ineptitude of the management of the company.
We believe that this state of affairs is a consequence of the internal battles between the management and the Board of Directors which compromises the stability of the company which in turn might affect the delivery of transport services rendered by the company.
We therefore call on the Limpopo Economic Development Enterprise (LimDev) to immediately intervene and resolve on all these dismissal cases.
