Dear Sir / Madam

RE : PRESS RELEASE ON INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY

The Congress of South African Trade Unions, in partnership with organs of people’s power and the mass democratic movement, will be demonstrating en masse, in front the East London City Hall on Saturday, 26th January 2008.

The World Social Forum meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya in May 2007 resolved that January 26th 2008 should be an International Day of Action, to co-incide with the conclusion of the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

The purpose of the demonstration is to highlight the plight of international communities who continue to suffer under capitalist barbarism led by the American Military industrial complex. Countries such as Palestine, Afghanistan, and other countries in the Middle East. Countries such as Myanmar continue to suffer under military dictatorships, where citizens do not have basic human rights.

The conflict in our continent continues to escalate, brothers and sisters are turning against each other in countries such as the DRC, Darfur, Kenya and Zimbabwe, as a result of power mongering by the leadership of these countries.

The World Economic Forum, is not concerned about these matters, all what is important to them is the generation of more profits at the expense of the poor.

We therefore call upon all those who identify themselves with the cause of international solidarity to join us as we demonstrate on the 26th January 2008.
