COSATU condemns death threats
The North West Provincial Secretary of the Congress of South African Trade Unions, Solly Phetoe, has been receiving death threats, in calls from private cell phone numbers. COSATU takes the matter very seriously and has reported the matter to the police. We demand that they take immediate action to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Solly Phetoe has been very active in the community protests by the people of Skierlik following the murder of four people, allegedly by the son of a local white farmer. While we strongly condemn this attempt to silence him we know that he will never stop speaking out against exploitation, abuse and racism whenever they raise their heads in his communities.
