The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Congress of South African Trade Unions has received the report of the Commission of Enquiry into allegations involving the COSATU President, Willy Madisha. The CEC decided to release the copy of the report publicly in the light of the misrepresentation by some in the media and unauthorised sources in the Federation which all combined to misinform the public about the real facts behind the establishment of the commission and its terms of reference. We attach the full report of the commisision.
The CEC has accepted the Commission's findings and recommendations. The CEC unanimously resolved to remove Willy Madisha as President of COSATU in terms of Clause 9.6.1.3 of the COSATU constitution. An Acting President will be elected at next CEC in May 2008.
COSATU will hold a press conference on this matter today at 15:00 at the COSATU Head office in Braamfontein.
