Congratulations to the Soweto Gospel Choir

The Congress of South African Trade Union salutes the Soweto Gospel Choir for winning the award for Best Traditional Music, for the second year in succession, for their album "African Spirit" at Sunday night's 50th Grammy Awards.

The choir is a magnificent ambassador for the nation. You have made us all proud of our traditions and culture and the award illustrates the high esteem in which traditional South African music is held throughout the world.

We call on the Ministry of Arts and Culture and the SABC to do far more to promote and encourage the development of our traditional culture of which the choir is such an outstanding example.
