MDC-COSATU meeting

The General Secretary of the Congress of South African Trade Unions, Zwelinzima Vavi, held a meeting in Johannesburg this morning, 22 April 2008, with the Secretary General of the Movement for Democratic Change, Tendai Biti, who gave a report on the current situation in Zimbabwe. He made it very clear that there is now a major crisis and that the government of Robert Mugabe is trying to steal the election and impose his will though violence. COSATU will be issuing a statement shortly on its view on the crisis now facing the people of Zimbabwe and proposals for mass action in solidarity with the struggle against dictatorship.
