COSATU support COSAS march 20-06-07

 

SUPPORT FOR COSAS MARCH

COSATU KZN supports the protest march to be staged by COSAS in KZN on Thursday 21 June 2007. As COSATU we feel the government's "I don't care attitude" has deprived students their right to receive tuition. The fact that all the politician have their children in private and overseas schools, has caused them not to care about children of the poor and the working class not to be educated for three weeks due to the public sector strike.

We believe it is the right of the students to demand their teachers from the government. In fact even parents should have been in the forefront to force the government to resolve the impasse in the negotiations. The behaviour and the attitude of the Minister in this matter make her the worst Minister South Africa has ever had in ages.

We also appeal to other civil society to pledge solidarity with the students by supporting this protest march to start from Bothas Garden this Thursday.
