Jobs and Poverty Campaign Conference

COSATU's Ninth National Congress decided "to make the Jobs and Poverty Campaign the centrepiece of our programme in the coming period". To this end a national Jobs and Poverty Campaign broad front summit conference has been arranged for 18-19 June 2007 under the theme: Create Quality Jobs, Fight Poverty and Inequalities! A very broad range of representative organisations have been invited.

The agenda will include sessions on:

  • Jobs and Poverty Campaign: the economic rationale
  • Understanding unemployment and creating decent and quality jobs
  • Poverty and inequality
  • Public service delivery
  • Agrarian and land reform

There will also be sessions discussing the Constitutional Review, which will cover such matters as floor-crossing legislation, abolishing provinces, the electoral system, the property clause and the transformation of the judiciary.

A full programme, with speakers, will be sent to you next week.
