PRESS ALERT

WAGE IMPASSE CONTINUE IN THE CHEMICAL AND WOOD and PAPER SECTORS

The Chemical Energy Paper Printing Wood and Allied Workers Union (Ceppwawu) with its Labour partners is currently in the process of having bi-lateral meetings with the Employer Associations under the auspices of the Chemical Bargaining Council. These meetings were facilitated by the Employer Associations in an attempt to break the impasse that exists between them and Labour. The bilaterals that were held thus far i.e. Petroleum and Pharmaceuticals failed to reach an agreement. Ceppwawu consulted with its partners as part of the Labour constituency and it was agreed that should the Employers fail to agree to Labour's demand of a 10% wage increase they will embark on an indefinite strike.
