COSATU congratulates Grammy winners
The Congress of South African Trade Unions congratulates the Soweto Gospel Choir on its stunning victory at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, where its album, Blessed, won the award for Best Traditional Music in the World.
The 26 members of the choir, producer Beverly Bryer and musical director David Mulovhedzi, have shown the world the exceptional quality of South African music and we are all immensely proud of them.
Let us hope that their triumph will convince the local media, especially the public broadcaster, the SABC, to devote far more coverage to our brilliant local musicians, actors and creative artists in all sectors of arts and culture, who are of world-class standard, as the Soweto choir has proved.
