COSATU reaction to KZN accident

The Congress of South African Trade Unions sends condolences to the families of the ten passengers who have lost their lives in this morning’s horrific collision between a bus and a lorry on the N3 near Estcourt in KwaZulu-Natal, and wishes the 37 injured a full and speedy recovery.

The passengers were on a bus taking people from Rustenburg and Mthata. It is tragic that at the time of year when families should be coming together to celebrate peace and prosperity, so many families have been plunged into grief and sadness, because of accidents on our roads, as workers return home from their place of work for a well-earned holiday.

COSATU welcomes the prompt investigation that has already been launched into the cause of this accident and calls upon all South Africans to drive carefully and keep the number of such accidents to the absolute minimum.
