Strike Update

Ceppwawu has been inundated with calls from motorists informing the union that some petrol stations have now run dry. Whilst petroleum employers are denying that this is as a direct result of the strike action we know that, because our members at the petrol distribution outlets joined the strike, there are no trucks delivering petrol to the petrol stations.

The Pharmaceutical Employers called the Union for talks today and we are hopeful that an agreement can be reached.

The Employers associations for all other Industries have not yet indicate their willingness to come to the negotiating table.

Ceppwawu will be marching to the two Bargaining Councils on Friday 3 August 2007 in Johannesburg to hand over a memorandum to the Employer Associations. Workers will come together at the Library Gardens between Simmons and Market Streets at 8:00.
