COSATU response to Minister of Health

The Congress of South African Trade Unions congratulates Health Minister Manto Tshabalala Msimang on her recovery from illness and wishes her continued good health.

We hope that she will now support the new united drive between government and civil society to fight the HIV/Aids pandemic, through the intensified education, prevention and treatment strategy, the details of which are to be finalised on Monday at the meeting of the SA National Aids Council.

A new spirit of unity has been forged, and earlier disagreements, to which the minister refers in her ANC Today article, have hopefully been resolved. We wish to emphasise that COSATU has never denied the importance of promoting good nutrition as part of the strategy to combat Aids.

We now hope that we can all work together to drive back the HIV/Aids offensive and that the minister will join us in
