COSATU calls on lawyers to withdraw from Swazi treason trial

The Congress of South African Trade Unions urgently calls on South African lawyers, Dr. Len Els and Anthony Viviers, who are due to represent the Swaziland state in the case against PUDEMO and SWAYOCO pro-democracy activists, who are charged with high treason and attempted murder, to immediately withdraw from the case.

COSATU demands that the Swazi dictatorship immediately and unconditionally release all the jailed opposition activists and drop all charges, in particular the high treason charges, and to allow opposition parties to operate freely.

COSATU's will continue to campaign in support of the oppressed people and the workers of Swaziland in their struggle for freedom, democracy and human rights.
