Protea bail decision - 06-02-06

 

The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the Gauteng Province is disappointed at the decision to grant bail to those accused of the alleged murder of three workers at the Protea dry cleaners, given the very serious charges which they face. COSATU is also concerned that allegations by two of the accused that they were assaulted by police officers may divert attention away from the initial crime.

We call upon the police and prosecuting authorities to move as swiftly as possible to bring the accused to trial and ensure that justice is done.
