Every worker must be able to vote!

The Congress of South African Trade Unions is throwing its full weight behind its affiliate POPCRU in its bid to compel the IEC and the SAPS management to make special provision for police officers to cast their votes during the local government elections on Wednesday.

Voting is a basic constitutional right and no group of workers must be disenfranchised because of the work they are doing on election day. As POPCRU say: "A police instruction cannot supersede a constitutional imperative".

Every worker must be guaranteed the right to cast his or her vote.
