The Congress of South African Trade Unions met with the Special Cabinet Committee that looks into the affairs of Eskom, Chaired by Deputy President DD Mabuza, yesterday, to discuss the proposed unbundling of Eskom by the government. The meeting was also attended by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

NEHAWU demands immediate insourcing of services outsourced to BOSASA

The National Education, Health and Allied Workers` Union [NEHAWU] notes the announcement by African Global Operations Group of Companies (Bosasa Youth and Child Care Centres as part of group of companies) to apply for voluntary liquidation. This voluntary liquidation by companies proves that Public Private Partnership are never a suitable concept for service delivery.

The South African Emergency Personnel`s Union (SAEPU) is condemning the recent circular issued by Department of Public Service and Administration that advises the government to do reference checking against social media profiles as an additional platform for reference checking on candidates who are looking for employment in the public service.

Shutting Bosasa down is simply not enough

The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) welcomes the unavoidable decision by Bosasa, otherwise known as African Global Solutions, to go into voluntary liquidation following the banks` intention to close its bank accounts on the basis of the reputational damage it has together with the Department of Correctional Service (DCS) management caused, is of the view that urgent action needs to be taken in retrieving some of the unused funds from the DCS, and that decisions about a new direction the DCS should take be inclusive.

The South African Municipal Workers` Union (SAMWU) has noted that the City of Johannesburg is on yet another attempt to destabilise the union. The City of Johannesburg has since the 2016 Local Government elections tried on numerous occasions to silence and divide the union.
